My guild is getting ready for a fun fashion show event.  We had one for giggles last year, and it was a huge success… so here we go again.

I didn’t win last year, so I have decided to up the stakes for myself and actually come up with some new outfits.  To start this process, I decided I needed to write down all the WOW gear pieces I have accumulated over the past several years.

I started keeping gear around level 70 when I started to role-play (RP).  I have always had problems with bag space, but since then it has REALLY been a problem.  I have often had to part with an outfit to make room for new ones.  I don’t RP anymore, but everyone on my server knows I like to keep up my appearances.

I didn’t really realize what a mess I had until I started writing it down.  Chatmay has a total of FORTY-NINE chest pieces and THIRTY-THREE helms not to mention all the other slots.  Including weapons, offhands, and wands, Chat has a total of 189 gear pieces.  (this does not include tabards, which I do not collect)

Here is a screenshot of my bank and bags.  As you can see, I only have a few spaces left open in my bags as usual.  I have about 2 columns full of void storage as well.  Note I did not show two bags, which are my engineering and mining bags.    (considering dumping the mining stuff for more gear!)

Chatmay's Closet

Many people have suggested that I get an addon for keeping up with gear, which I think might be highly likely for me soon.  Anyways, wish me luck for the fashion show, and if you have any outfit ideas let me know!

WOW Winter Guild Party

Those of you that have read my blog the past year have seen articles about the spring, summer, and fall guild parties.  So here is my latest installment, <The East Kingdom> Winter Guild Party, held last night on Terokkar!

I summoned everyone interested in attending to K3 in Storm Peaks.  I thought the snowy zone would work well with the theme.  We laid down a Brewfest Pony Keg of beer and a Dalaran cask of red wine. (I just discovered these casks in Dalaran the other day, and this one serves 25 people!)

After a few drinks, we did a winter outfit contest.  Several of us had on similar or the same robes, but Mtdewme won with her Glacial Robe and matching blue helm.  The prize was 500g plus Authentic Jr. Engineering Goggles and a Red Wine Glass offhand.

I had two toons at the party, Chatmay and Ellenoria.  Chatmay wore all white.  I put White Swashbuckler’s Shirt under Mooncloth Robe to make the robe look long-sleeved.  This shirt seemed to be the only true white-colored shirt in game.  The rest were all kind of dirty-white.  Not shown in the picture, but I also had my Baby Blizzard Bear out.

Chatmay in White

Mooncloth Robe
White Swashbuckler’s Shirt
Thoriumweave Cloak
Moccasins of the White Hare
Diamond-Tipped Cane
Double-Stiched Woolen Shoulders
Wand of Ahn’kahet
Gossamer Headpiece of Whale

Ellenoria is usually at parties as our mascot, Druid Gaga, but she was kind of chilling last night with her moose horns.  Here is what she wore:

Boneshreddin

Druidic Helmet of Second Sight
Five pieces of Boneshredder set
The Fire Extinguisher

We then went to the minefield nearby to try for the Mine Sweeper achievement.  After attempting this achievement for a while with guildies blowing up everywhere, we finally had one guildie get the achievement.  He won a Teldrassil Sproutling companion pet.  I filmed this on FRAPS and hope to post it here on the blog in a few days.

The other game we played was Snow-ball.  It was a version of paintball with snowballs.  You had to be the first to hit 10 others with your 10 snowballs to win.  I gave everyone time to hide, then we started.  You could not hit the same person twice in a row.  This game ended quickly, so I might have to think of a way to make it harder for next time.  We had a tie, so both winners received a companion pet or gold.

After the party, we all went and did Naxxramus-25 with nine people to get achievements.  It was a fun night!

Also, I did a random roll in game between 1-15 for the comments prize, the Grim Campfire lootcard.

I only have a few 85s I am gearing for raiding right now. But yesterday I decided to go ahead and transmog a few toons I am not playing that much just for fun.

I love mixing and matching gear.  Complete sets are so yesterday!  So check out some of the pairings I have made:

CHATMAY, 85 Warlock

Looking Bad*&$

This is the same outfit I posted a month or two ago except I had to add a staff to the outfit instead of the dagger and offhand.

Ellenoria, 85 Druid

Blue Christmas

Heroes Dreamwalker shoulders and gloves with some other items.

Magdakine, 85 Shaman

Eyepatch Intrigue

I almost went set with this one, mixing three pieces of Wrathfin with various other gear and accessories.

Meridia, 85 Priest

Priest Power

Used two pieces of the Incarnate set with other pieces including the Metanoia staff.

Abyssinia, 85 DK

Deathly Sexiness

My husband thinks that it is bizarre making a deathknight look sexy, but I wanted to give her a change of pace.  Completely mix and matched.

Phillippa, 85 Paladin

Golden Child

This outfit was difficult to match without farming gold gear, but I finally did it!  I was a little angry that I had to buy a gold mace because the game will not let you transmog a gold 2h axe over a 2h mace, which is what I am currently using.

This month I am hosting a contest between three WOW bloggers who discuss RP or fashion in the game.  It is up to me AND YOU to decide who wins!

Here are the contest specs that were sent out to the contestants:

Enter a transmog outfit you think looks the coolest.  Pretty simple right?
The contest will be judged on:
Items Used- mixing tier with non-tier, colors mixed together, over all look- 50%
Screenshot submission- creativity, location, etc- 50%
My vote will count for 50% and the readers’ votes will count for the other half.

The contestant prize is a WOW item donated from etsy.com shop, DaintyCreations!
Custom WOW Coasters with their character- Value $20

Custom WOW Coasters

__________________________________________________________________
Sponsor Dainty Boutique is a small shop featuring a variety of handmade gifts. The owner besides crafting enjoys playing WoW, she has a few level 80s. And her main is a BE Priest. She plays on Bleeding Hollow and Terrokar.
__________________________________________________________________

I will also be rolling a random number in WOW for a reader comment prize, which will be a rare WOW Loot Card called Grim Campfire!  (value $15-20) Yes, you can win too!

SO… the blogger nominees are:
1) KIRINA’S CLOSET

Swamp Thang

Kirina Used:
Big Voodoo Mask
Ymirjar’s Physician’s Robe
Mantle of Autumn
Overcast Boots, Gloves, and Belt

Kirina says: The Physician’s Robe immediately made me think of a female “creature from the Black Lagoon”, and so I focused on a outfit primarily green and brown to go along with that “swampy” theme. I found that the Mantle of Autumn really accents the colors in the robe – while they aren’t green like the druid-only Cenarion Spaulders, the golden leaves of the Autumn mantle bring out the darker brown/tan colors in the robe. The Big Voodoo Mask  was added just to be “scarier”…and, it was really the only leather helm I could find that was obtainable for Kirina while still matching the spirit of the outfit.

2. KAMALIA ET ALIA

Newsies Look

Kamalia used:
Hood of Lost Solitude
Murkblood Shoulderguards
Raptor-Hide Harness
Rigid Belt
Expedition Pants
Runic Leather Gauntlets
Mosshide Boots
Tuxedo Shirt

Kamalia Says: I’d been intending to put together an outfit based around the Hood of Lost Solitude, a leather quest reward item from Twilight Highlands that reminds me of a military-style cap, for some time now. In contemplating what sorts of outfits I might make, it occurred to me that this hat might make a good newsboy cap.

Also: Like the Dress Shoes, these boots disappear on races that don’t wear shoes and look like plain black shoes on races with human-like feet.
I also considered using the Runic Leather Vest/Cow King’s Hide as an alternate chestpiece.

3. Effraeti’s RP

Shammy Power

Effi Used:
Crown of Destruction
Merciless Gladiator’s Ringmail Spaulders
Brutal Gladiator’s Ringmail Armor
Brutal Gladiator’s Ringmail Gauntlets
Guardian’s Ringmail Girdle
Feltooth Eviscerator
Triptych Shield of the Ancients

Effraeti says:  Somewhat inspired by the Firelands (T12), but mainly built around the Cataclysm (T5) set shoulders (which I bought the PvP replica of).  Shamans are elemental based, and I thought the look of fire was most impressive (and I love that helm).  My preference would be the Earthshatter (T3) set, but alas, I did not play in Vanilla.

TO COMMENT: Please only vote for ONE contestant… comment with two numbers- one number between 1-10 for the overall look and another number between 1-10 for the screenshot.  (10 being the highest)

Example Comment: I like Kirina the best because…xyz.  I give her a score of 8/7.

DEADLINE TO COMMENT ON THIS POST FOR ENTRY: DECEMBER 15, 2011!

JUDGING, ROLL, AND PRIZE NOTIFICATION WILL TAKE PLACE BY: DECEMBER 20, 2011… winners will be announced on this blog as well.

NO PURCHASE NECESSARY
VOID WHERE PROHIBITED BY LAW
MUST BE 18+ TO COMMENT/ENTER
IF ANY PRIZE IS UNCLAIMED, THERE WILL NOT BE A 2nd DRAWING

Fall Season WOW Guild Party

September and October have gone, but it is not too late to have a fall guild party in WOW!

My guild started out our party last night with the usual Druid Gaga kickoff.  She is our guild mascot and always unveils the party keg.  I even sang some rewritten Bad Romance lyrics about the alliance on ventrilo.

Party Hardy

After that, two guildies handed out these drinks for the Drown Your Sorrows achievement:  Darkbrew Lager and Highland Spirits from cooking; Fungus Squeezings and Murky water from Grunka in Hyjal; Sparkling Oasis Water, Fresh Water and Highland Spring Water from Allison in Stormwind (alliance); and Greasy Whale Milk from Movra in Silvertide Hollow.  Be aware that to open the vendor Grunka,  you have to have done through the Commander Jarod Shadowsong quest in Hyjal, which is pretty far into it if not completely.

For this party, I also came up with a NEW GAME… Rock/Beetle/Racer!  It is like rock/paper/scissors, but in this game: Origami Beetle beats Origami Rock, Trusty Copper Racer beats Origami Beetle, and Origami Rock beats the racer.  Each person gets one of each item to start, I counted to three on ventrilo, they laid down an item.  If there is a tie, they have to get more items and go again.   You cannot click on the person you are “dueling” or wait until count 4 or 5 to lay down your item.  We did it tournament style with last one up against the person who had the most wins, but I think if I did this again I would let the winner be the person who won the most rounds.

Everyone whispered me to vote for best costume, which was a prize of 500g.  It was a fall themed costume contest.  Alas, I did not get a screenshot of the winner, but here is what I wore last night in case you are interested:

Starting the Party Early With My Turkey Leg

Russet Hat
Vizier Mantle
Geomancer’s Wraps
Embersilk Gloves
Petrified Camel Haunch

My Priest Transmogging Dilemma

When they first announced transmogging, my first thought was about my priest.  I thought- not only can I go back and get old gear, I can even get the avatar set!

So I went and got the helm, shoulders, and chest of the avatar set, put them on, and thought…um no.

Avatar

The Avatar set is quintessential holy priest gear right?  But to me, it also seems a bit stuffy for my giggly, girlie-nightelf.

So I went and got a few other set pieces- here is my “nun look”:

ICC Helm=nun

And here is what I have of the Incarnate set:

Purple Princess

All of these are nice, but a little too calm and serene for me.  So…I have been playing around with several “looks” for trasnmogging, and I just wanted to show you that holy priests do not have to look holier-than-thou!  We can be rebel priests, rockers, or crooks.  Kind of kidding, but take a look at this and see what I mean:

Skimpy Girl

Voodoo Princess

Bandit Action

At this point, I may just keep my 378 Firelands gear on, but these looks are cool too!  If you like what you see, leave a comment or ask what I am wearing.  Oh…and if you know of any cool offhands for priests let me know.

Every year I try to do a Halloween costume for WOW just for fun.  This year I decided to dress as Poison Ivy from Batman using this guide as a reference.

I wanted to do this costume previously but found it hard to get all the green items I needed.  So I have been saving up for the past year to make this costume.  I am entering it in Kirina’s Halloween Costume Contest on her blog.

Someone Stinks

Items Used:

Slime-Encrusted Pads
Grovekeeper’s Drape
Fangdrip Runners
Leggings of Concentrated Darkness
Serpent Gloves
Darkmoon Dirk
Red Rose
Hibernal Armor

Sinister Squashling pet

I also tried it with Scout’s Vest as the chest instead, but I did not enter this picture due to the no duplicates rule:

More skin!

How to Use 3D Modeling for Transmogrification

Many players have used or at least heard of the downloadable program WOW Model Viewer, but yesterday I discovered that you can do 3D WOW modeling on a basic web browser with Wowhead.com!  This would be great to compare outfits for transmogging!

I have no idea how long this feature has been on their website, but I thought I would write directions here on how to use it as well as include a link to my sample so you can see what I did.

HOW TO DO IT:

1) Go to WOWHEAD.COM
2) Drop down menu Tool>Item Comparison
3) Click on “Item” on the R Side to add your outfit
4) Type in the item name.  Do this repeatedly for every item.
5) On Item Comparison page, drag each item to the first one you created to form a group.
6) To view your model, click on the down arrow on L side of item group.
7) View 3D Model
8 ) Specify Race and Sex at bottom L
9) Animations can be done on the bottom R

Here is a little outfit I threw together on Chatmay to demonstrate:

Paleborne Robes
Crimson Felt Hat
Touch of the Occult gloves
Anetheron’s Noose belt
Infernoweave Boots

(no shoulders, etc. picked yet)

FUN STUFF!

Today I put Chatmay’s pirate costume on and headed to Booty Bay.  Why?  Because it is Pirate’s Day!

Captain Chatmay

This event only lasts one day, and I have missed it every year.  Today I was determined to get the achievement, which is called “The Captain’s Booty.”

The Upper Deck

To get to the celebration area, go to Booty Bay in STV.  Then you go above the bank there…near the horde flight path.

All you do is talk to the Dread Captain DeMeza and…

Drinky Drinky

WHAM! You have an easy achievement and a new look!

I personally like Chatmay’s face and costume better than what I was given… here is what I used:

First Mate Hat
Amice of Brilliant Light
Black Swashbuckler’s Shirt
Captain Sander’s Sash
Astralaan Pants of the Owl
Buccaneer’s Boots of the Falcon
Crypt Lord’s Deft Blade
